Big Brother style gaming

So I finally got into the OnLive experience last night and I must say that I'm impressed. I expected a significant amount of lag and pretty poor frame rates given my somewhat average connection speed at my house. Instead, the gameplay was fairly smooth. Of course my connection dropped out after about and hour of playtime but that's my problem, not OnLive's.

I played the trial for NBA 2k12 and Lord Of The Rings: War In The North. Both ran relatively well but the biggest thing that I noticed was that the graphic quality was definitely toned down a bit in order to hold the framerate. It'll be interesting to ask the OnLive CS whether that is a result of my internet speed or if OnLive tones the graphics for most of their high end games down in anticipation of that for most users.

It was interesting to log in and see a mass of games being played in realtime by other people. You can literally go into viewer mode for any person's game and just watch them play. Now I know what the chicken in the Robot Chicken intro feels like!
