Labor Day

The first Labor Day took place in New York City on September 5, 1882, with picnics organized by the city's Central Labor Union.  It became a legal holiday by an 1894 Act of Congress.  Today we celebrate the holiday more as an "unofficial" ending of summer, than for a day to cease labor.

How did you celebrate the holiday?  Our youngest son and family came from Chelsea, and spent Sunday night and Labor Day at our house.

Granddaughter, Isabella [left] with her cousin, Alivia, enjoying Labor Day weekend swimming.  The last hurrah of summer!

And Jerry and I had a picture taken to update our Facebook profile photo.

I can't believe summer is almost over.  It went by so quickly!
